About Andrea
Andrea (she/they) has been working in mission-driven organizations for two decades. She started her career at the administrative level, supporting a program team with the details of running complex international volunteer service programs. Andrea quickly found a niche in leading program operations, building and scaling systems to select volunteers, managing data, developing and communicating policies and procedures, and overseeing multi-million dollar program budgets. After ten years in program ops, Andrea brought this mission-focused perspective to the organizational level, where for another ten years they designed, implemented, and managed finance, HR, administration, and logistics for organizations with over 100 staff members and budgets exceeding $20m. A focus on equity, inclusion, and justice is an integral part of all her work.
Having worked at both the programmatic and organizational level, Andrea understands the perception of competing priorities that can exist between operations and programs teams, but she believes this perception can be changed, as we all choose mission-driven work to help make change in the world - including those who choose a career in operations. Her ability to translate between different stakeholders allows them to build a sense of shared purpose among people with different perspectives, and she holds the mission at the center of her operational mandate in any organization.
Over their career, Andrea has directly managed over two dozen individuals and led full operations teams of 20+ staff. Andrea’s leadership style is focused on mentorship and empowerment; she believes that the best way to achieve the dual goals of efficacy and job satisfaction is to build a mutually-trusting relationship with her team, where care and candor reinforce each other. They guide their teams to high performance while supporting learning and growth along the way.
Andrea effectively organizes her personal administrative life with spreadsheets, lists, and automations to make time for other priorities - spending time with family including their companion animals, growing things, being in nature, traveling, creating, word games, and trivia. She lives on the traditional land of the Onödowá’ga:’ nation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
“Andrea is an exceptional leader whose impact on nonprofits is nothing short of transformative. Her empathetic leadership style, combined with a keen eye for both the big picture and meticulous details, enables organizations to achieve profound changes that resonate deeply with their missions and the dedicated staff that drive them.”
